Out With The Old

Spring is here, which means so is spring cleaning. But why only clean our houses and throw away throwaways? Spring is a time to clean out everything that no longer serves us. It's a time to get out of that winter rut, mindset, and things we settled for in one season but know it won't be enough in the next.
I suffer from seasonal depression, so spring feels like an enormous weight lifted off my shoulders. Somehow, the world seems lighter, opportunities become plentiful, and life is worth living again. It is the shedding season. You're slowly coming out of hibernation and ready to spread your wings and embark on new journeys, experiences, and versions of yourself.
Spring is when summer bodies are made, and five-year plans are written. This season screams renewal and hope.
Out with the old, in with whatever aligns.

I want to share how I’ve been spring cleaning EVERYTHING; I start by breaking my life into categories and writing it down.
If you are a visual person like myself, you know that writing anything down makes it very real.
+ breaking my life into categories makes things more digestible.
Here are three of my spring cleaning categories and a few things I do under each to get the MOST out of this shedding season.
MENTAL
The mind controls everything. It is important that we’re feeding it what we want to get out of it.
Meditate to cleanse the mind of all thoughts.
Build a morning routine that involves starting your day doing something that speaks to who you’re becoming.
(i start by pulling an affirmations card, learning a new word via word of the day and taking a walk)
Write down the things you constantly think about. (good, bad, indifferent) purging helps bring in new energy and thoughts.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Delete any pictures and videos that are duplicates or unnecessary.
Unfollow anyone who doesn’t resonate with who you’re becoming or who isn’t following you.
Delete the apps from your phone that you no longer use.
Set a goal to stop talking to or slowly ease away from any people in your life that no longer align.
BODY
Create a workout schedule that will hold you accountable to move your body every day ( a walk, dancing, walking around the house )
Stick to a sleep schedule that allows you enough rest to feel refreshed and energized the next day.
