MOVE IN SILENCE

“Move in silence, only speak when it’s time to say checkmate.”

I waited for this write up for a while. I couldn’t seem to understand why I would set an intention, show up, and it not come to fruition or manifesting something and it would talk longer than usual. I began to sit and ask myself what I was doing wrong and the answer became very clear after I was honest with myself.

 I talked too damn much.

I was so excited to share my success via social media, amongst friends and family and I never understood why after sharing the news of my new projects or a new goal, I was less motivated and my projects seemed to slow down.

I recently watched a ted talk by Derek Sivers, titled ‘keep your goals to yourself’ and in this ted talk he goes on about having a goal and the steps and work that need to be done in order to achieve that goal. Derek goes on to say “Ideally you would not be satisfied until you’ve actually done the work. But when you tell someone your goal and they acknowledge it, it's called a "social reality." The mind is kind of tricked into feeling that it's already done. And then because you've felt that satisfaction, you're less motivated to do the actual hard work necessary”

Adding on to the social reality study. I’ve learned that it is not ideal to put your goals or projects out into the universe in its growing season.

Give your heart's desires time to build a strong foundation before you present it to the world so it's not easily shaken, destroyed or compromised

“When you move in silence, they don’t know what to attack”

Reflection question:

  • Reflect on a time you shared a goal or project in its planning/ growing stages

Power Affirmations:

  • There is power in knowing everything that is meant for me is on its way to me

  • There is power in keeping promises to myself

  • There is power in attuning my craft even when no one is there to applaud me through the process.

XO,
