HEALING IS NOT LINEAR

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of consciousness.” - Eckhart Tolle

heal·ing

/ˈhēliNG/

 noun

  1. the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again." the gift of healing"

adjective

  1. tending to heal; therapeutic." a healing experience"

The healing journey is not linear. There’s no blueprint or guide. Healing is unpredictable, raw, and hard. Some days you are fine and others you are not. And that is okay. Not only is it okay, but it is also expected, normal, and even healthy! Healing happens in spirals and layers, and within the layers lies the transformation.

Gratefully recognize and embrace that for every step forward there maybe 5 steps back. We all undergo phases where we need to relearn lessons we’ve already learned. We may double back on emotions and or people. Give yourself grace in this healing period but equally, hold yourself accountable.

3 ways to hold yourself accountable in the healing process

1. Embrace honesty

During your healing process, you may discover new things about yourself. Confronting the truth and taking ownership of your actions and feelings can be challenging but necessary. Embrace your truth.

2. Keep yourself connected to others

One of the most complex parts of healing is the feeling of isolation that can stem from the process. Sometimes we may feel like we don’t want to connect with people because we are not at our best. Keep in mind you can heal and maintain relationships at the same time. You are never “too damaged” for connections.

3. Reward your accomplishments and growth

While healing it is important to acknowledge how far you have come. Small wins are essential. With big and specific goals in mind, celebrating small wins is extremely important. You know the struggle and pain you’ve gone through to achieve whatever you have in your life, so celebrate it with joy.

 Healing begins within.

Progress is still progress, no matter how small. Move at your own pace, and embrace your journey. There is no rush.
